Are these good opinions and arguments? Write yes, or no. Then, explain why you answered that way.

  1. Of course he’s dumb, after all he’s a footballer isn’t he? 
    • No, that’s a stereotype, you should not judge him based on how they look.
  2. Professor Costello’s book on marriage is written by an expert. After all, he has been married four times.
    • No. This is a poor argument. Being married multiple times doesn't make someone an expert on the institution of marriage (Irony)
  3. If you don’t like the government’s policies why don’t you just leave the country? 
    • No. This is a poor argument and is not a good opinion either, they suggest there are only two options.
  4. We should imprison all drug dealers because that’ll stop other people from becoming drug dealers.
    • No. And that shouldn’t be how the thing works, it doesn’t mean that we imprison all the drug dealers, the people would stop want to become a drug dealer. (Not a cause-effect relation)
  5. Briz: shown to be the best washing powder by far.
    • No. This is not a good argument as it's a truth claim. (with no evidence supported)
  6. Coca cola is clearly better than wine, as demonstrated by a study that showed that of 4000 20-year-olds, 80% said that coca cola is better than red wine.
    • No. This is a bad argument because it commits on a biased sample
  7. A: Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is immoral.
    B: Yeah, and what about all the wars that America started?
    • No. Not a good arguments, it seems to be sarcasm instead of talking about facts or having a supported evidence. – (Whataboutism)
  8. Don’t tell me that Muslims aren’t terrorists. Just look at all the suicide bombers.
    • No. This is a poor argument based on their stereotype not all Muslims people are terrorists, white people can be a terrorist too!
  9. I can’t believe how much money actors get paid! It’s just acting!
    • No. That’s not a good poinion because I feel like it look down on people, and ignore their acting skills and training. So it’s not jsut “just acting”
  10. Most people believe in UFOs. Readers of the magazine Space Mysteries were asked if they believed in UFOs. Amazingly, 89% of the women and 75% of the men who responded said they believed that UFOs exist.
    • No. This is a poor argument becuase the poll was conducted on a biased sample
