2. Course Description

This course covers:

  • Economic principles
  • Analytical tools and concepts for managerial decision-making:
    • Cash flow analysis
    • Capital budgeting
    • Project valuation techniques
  • Feasibility study appraisal and analysis:
    • Financial analysis parameters
    • Investment appraisal analysis
    • Sensitivity analysis and risk analysis for investment alternatives

Intuition:
Think of this as "Finance and Economics for Engineers." You'll learn how to evaluate whether a project/investment is worth doing from a financial perspective—critical for any technical manager or entrepreneur.

3. Course Objectives

This course aims to provide students with:

  1. Concepts of analyzing financial statements
  2. Knowledge of managerial decision-making
  3. Ability to identify relevant information
  4. Understanding of using appropriate methods for:
    • Analyzing information
    • Making investment and business decisions

Intuition:
Goal: Turn you into someone who can look at a business opportunity (new product, startup, project) and systematically determine: "Is this financially viable? Should we invest?"
