Change of Basis

(Different Coordinate System)

    [123]=1i⃗+2j⃗+3k⃗\begin{bmatrix} 1 \\ 2 \\ 3 \end{bmatrix}=1\vec{i}+2\vec{j}+3\vec{k} [x1x2x3]=x1i⃗+x2j⃗+x3k⃗\begin{bmatrix} x_1 \\ x_2 \\ x_3 \end{bmatrix}=x_1\vec{i}+x_2\vec{j}+x_3\vec{k}
    • i⃗,j⃗,k⃗\vec{i},\vec{j},\vec{k} เราก็รู้เนอะ ว่ามันคืออะไรแต่ละอัน

    B={[111],[0−13],[007]}vB=[1−20]B =\{\begin{bmatrix} 1 \\ 1 \\ 1 \end{bmatrix}, \begin{bmatrix} 0 \\ -1 \\ 3 \end{bmatrix}, \begin{bmatrix} 0 \\ 0 \\ 7 \end{bmatrix}\} \quad \quad \quad v_B=\begin{bmatrix} 1 \\ -2 \\ 0 \end{bmatrix}
    • แล้วเราต้องหา vBSv_{B_S} (vBv_B ของเขาแล้ว Translate มาภาษาโลก)
    vBS=(1)[111]−2[0−13]+0[007]=[13−5]v_{B_S}=(1)\begin{bmatrix} 1 \\ 1 \\ 1 \end{bmatrix}-2\begin{bmatrix} 0 \\ -1 \\ 3 \end{bmatrix}+0\begin{bmatrix} 0 \\ 0 \\ 7 \end{bmatrix}=\begin{bmatrix} 1 \\ 3 \\ -5 \end{bmatrix}
    • จริง ๆ แล้วถ้าสังเกตดี ๆ มองเป็น
    vBS=(1)[111]−2[0−13]+0[007]=[1001−10137][1−20]=AB,BS⋅vBv_{B_S}=(1)\begin{bmatrix} 1 \\ 1 \\ 1 \end{bmatrix}-2\begin{bmatrix} 0 \\ -1 \\ 3 \end{bmatrix}+0\begin{bmatrix} 0 \\ 0 \\ 7 \end{bmatrix}=\begin{bmatrix} 1 &0&0\\ 1&-1&0 \\ 1&3&7 \end{bmatrix}\begin{bmatrix} 1 \\ -2 \\ 0 \end{bmatrix}=A_{B,B_S}\cdot v_B
      $v_{B_S}=A_{B,B_S}\cdot v_B$

    • เรียก AB,BSA_{B,B_S} ว่า Transformation Matrix ซึ่งจะพูดถึงต่อไป ถึงประโยชน์ของมันน5555

Transformation Matrices

  • Again, vBS=AB,BS⋅vBv_{B_S}=A_{B,B_S}\cdot v_B
    • เรียก AB,BSA_{B,B_S} ว่า Transformation Matrix— It transforms from an arbitrary basis BB to the standard (this world) basis BSB_S
  • The inverse transformation is given by vB=AB,BS−1⋅vBSv_B=A_{B,B_S}^{-1}\cdot v_{B_S}
    • Transform from a standard basis (this world) to arbitrary basis
    • AB,BS−1=ABS,BA_{B,B_S}^{-1}=A_{B_S,B} (เขียนข้างล่างสลับกัน)
    • การหา Inverse ก็จะใช้ [\ceA∣\ceI]∼[\ceI∣\ceA−1][\ce{A} |\ce{I}]\sim[\ce{I}|\ce{A^{-1}}] หาเอาเลย
    • หรือถ้าจะไม่หา Inverse ก็เอาเข้าสมการธรรมดา แล้ว Augmented Matrix หา α1,α2,α3\alpha_1,\alpha_2,\alpha_3 แค่นั้น

Theorem 1 The columns of ABS,BA_{B_S,B} are composed of vectors BSB_S represented in terms of BB

  • Each column of ABS,BA_{B_S,B} corresponds to one basis vector in BSB_S, represented as a linear combination of the basis vectors in BB.
17(77−4)=1(111)+1(0−13)−47(007)=(100)=e1\frac{1}{7}\begin{pmatrix}7\\7\\-4\end{pmatrix} = 1\begin{pmatrix}1\\1\\1\end{pmatrix}+1\begin{pmatrix}0\\-1\\3\end{pmatrix} -\frac{4}{7}\begin{pmatrix}0\\0\\7\end{pmatrix} =\begin{pmatrix}1\\0\\0\end{pmatrix}=e_1 17(0−73)=0(111)−1(0−13)+37(007)=(010)=e2\frac{1}{7}\begin{pmatrix}0\\-7\\3\end{pmatrix}=0\begin{pmatrix}1\\1\\1\end{pmatrix} - 1\begin{pmatrix}0\\-1\\3\end{pmatrix}+\frac{3}{7}\begin{pmatrix}0\\0\\7\end{pmatrix}=\begin{pmatrix}0\\1\\0\end{pmatrix}=e_2

17(001)=0(111)+0(0−13)+17(007)=(001)=e3\frac{1}{7}\begin{pmatrix}0\\0\\1\end{pmatrix}=0\begin{pmatrix}1\\1\\1\end{pmatrix}+0\begin{pmatrix}0\\-1\\3\end{pmatrix}+\frac{1}{7}\begin{pmatrix}0\\0\\7\end{pmatrix}=\begin{pmatrix}0\\0\\1\end{pmatrix}=e_3

    17(7007−70−431)=(1001−10−473717)(e1)B  (e2)B  (e3)B\frac{1}{7}\begin{pmatrix}7&0&0\\7&-7&0\\-4&3&1\end{pmatrix} = \begin{pmatrix} 1 & 0 & 0\\ 1 & -1 & 0\\-\frac{4}{7}&\frac{3}{7}&\frac{1}{7}\end{pmatrix}_{(e_1)_B\;(e_2)_B\;(e_3)_B}

Example

Non-standard Bases

AB1,BS⋅vB1=AB2,BS⋅vB2A_{B_1,B_S}\cdot v_{B_1}=A_{B_2,B_S}\cdot v_{B_2}
  • สมมติว่าจะแปลงจาก vB1v_{B_1} เป็น vB2v_{B_2} ถ้าขั้นตอนง่าย ๆ ก็คือแปลงกลับเป็น vBSv_{B_S} ก่อน แล้วค่อย Apply Inverse Matrix แปลงเป็น vB2v_{B_2} อีกที vB1S=AB1,BS⋅vB1⋅ABS,B2=AB1,BS⋅vB1⋅AB2,BS−1v_{B_{1_S}}=A_{B_1,B_S}\cdot v_{B_1}\cdot A_{B_S,B_2}=A_{B_1,B_S}\cdot v_{B_1}\cdot A_{B_2,B_S}^{-1}
